Public Hearing on Community Plan Amendment for Corner of McFerrin and Chicamauga

The Metropolitan Planning Commission will hold a public hearing on a request to amend the East Nashville Community Plan at its meeting on Thursday, June 23, 2011, at 4:00 PM in the Howard Office Building Auditorium located at 700 Second Avenue South.

The purpose of the Public Hearing is to provide interested persons the opportunity to express their views about the requested amendment. The East Nashville Community Plan, requested to be amended, is the policy document that the Planning Commission uses to guide its recommendations to Metro Council regarding requests to change the zoning of property.

This is a housekeeping amendment being undertaken at the direction of the Metro Planning Commission to make the community plan policy consistent with an earlier zone change that occurred in the area:
  • A zone change from RS5 Residential district to MUN Mixed Use district enacted by Metro Council on March 22, 2011, Ordinance Number BL2011‐854 for property at 731 McFerrin Avenue.
  • The Metro Planning Commission’s recommendation action on February 24, 2011: “Approve and direct staff to initiate a housekeeping amendment for parcels 307 and 308 on Map 082‐08.”
The requested amendment would change the named properties from "Mixed Housing in Neighborhood General (MH in NG)" to "Mixed Use in Neighborhood Center (MxU in NC)".
