Brush Pick Up for Area Between Dickerson and Gallatin
To ensure that your brush will be collected, you should have limbs and all other yard waste out and ready for pick-up on the date above. Place only limbs, branches and true yard waste by the curb for brush crews. Lumber, household trash and other types of debris found in your brush pile means it won’t get picked up.
Brush piles should not be placed close to mailboxes, utility poles, fences, trees or other stationary objects. The mechanical arm of the knuckle boom truck needs enough room to lift the brush pile up and into the trailer pulled behind the truck. Only the driver travels with each truck; no other crew members are there to move piles or separate items that don’t belong in a brush pile.
Place leaves in biodegradable paper bags only. Paper biodegradable bags can be purchased at most hardware stores, Kroger, Wal-Mart, Target, Home Depot, etc. Public Works also has a supply of these bags available for purchase at the Omohundro Convenience Center: 5 bags for $3.00 and 10 bags for $6.00. Plastic bags will not be picked up.
Route 1 boundaries are between Dickerson Pike and Gallatin Pike. From North First Street to the Sumner County line (excluding Goodlettsville).
For more info, review details for each route and the Brush "Do's & Don'ts".

Public Hearing on Community Plan Amendment for Corner of McFerrin and Chicamauga
The Metropolitan Planning Commission will hold a public hearing on a request to amend the East Nashville Community Plan at its meeting on Thursday, June 23, 2011, at 4:00 PM in the Howard Office Building Auditorium located at 700 Second Avenue South. The purpose of the Public Hearing is to provide interested persons the opportunity to express their views about the requested amendment. The East Nashville Community Plan, requested to be amended, is the policy document that the Planning Commission uses to guide its recommendations to Metro Council regarding requests to change the zoning of property.
This is a housekeeping amendment being undertaken at the direction of the Metro Planning Commission to make the community plan policy consistent with an earlier zone change that occurred in the area:
- A zone change from RS5 Residential district to MUN Mixed Use district enacted by Metro Council on March 22, 2011, Ordinance Number BL2011‐854 for property at 731 McFerrin Avenue.
- The Metro Planning Commission’s recommendation action on February 24, 2011: “Approve and direct staff to initiate a housekeeping amendment for parcels 307 and 308 on Map 082‐08.”
Additional information can be found on the Public Hearing Notice (PDF).
